LCD MONITOR BASICS:
|
An
LCD Panel has a fixed number of liquid crystal cells & can display
only one resolution at full-screen size using one cell per pixel.
Most LCD monitors can display lower resolution images by scaling the image
to fill the screen.
FEATURES/BENEFITS
Because
there are no convergence problems with LCD monitors, text looks crisp.
LCD
cells are either ON or OFF. As compared to CRT monitors, refresh
rates are meaningless. That means less eye strain.
There
are no electromagnetic emissions. Consequently while scientist debate
what levels of emissions are safe for CRT monitors, one does not have
to worry about this issue with LCD monitors.
LCD
monitors are much more energy efficient than CRT monitors. Annual saving
can be over $USD50.00 compared to CRT monitors
Depending
on space requirements, sometimes LCD monitors are the only viable
solution due to its inherent small footprint.
HOW
TO CARE FOR AN LCD MONITOR Caring
for an LCD monitor is no different than caring for an expensive notebook
computer, or cel phone. Simply handle with care. To clean,
simply use a soft damp lint-free cloth (we happen to use Kimberly Clark's
Kimtex tm Shop Towels No 33570) with small amount of glass cleaner. LVDS
or TMDS or DVI VESA's
Digital Flat Panel (DFP) Working Group chose TMDS. Compaq
and others are shipping TMDS compliant products now. LVDS is barely
getting off the ground as of Nov. 1998!......Fast forward to January 1999
and we can now find LVDS product in the market. Now zoom to Q12000
and all you will hear about is DVI -- so forget about LVDS and DFP --
just go for DVI --- yeah, we got that too. ANALOG
OR DIGITAL? Industry
pundits (and those with a stake on the outcome) will tell you to go digital
now. Our experience says for the money, you are better off with
analog monitors. However, if you are dead set on a digital monitor,
we carry those as well....we have been told by the prominent proponents
of digital solutions that our analog product looks "almost" as good as
the digital product....your choice!
