Final QC Procedure
Equipment to be use:
Quantum Signal Generator. Model 801GF, Stand A lone(Alignment)
Milnota CA-100 Color Analyzer Meter (Alignment)
Quantum CS-1 Color Analyzer ( QC )
Convergence Klein Gage

Preparation
1.) Input mode: 1024x768 at 75hz
Input format: Full White
2.) Warm up monitor for 30 min
3.) Set monitors User Control to (OSD control):
Contrast to 100%
R Brightness to 50%
4.) Check all OSD and/or control buttons to make sure all buttons function properly.
5.) Adjust full white format to the center of the screen by using OSD control buttons. (See attached sheet for detail) Distance between bezel and picture = 1/8 inch on four sides
6.) Check CRT Quality:
This is a very critical step, monitor with CRT problem is considered to be an AS-IS or discount merchandise. Usually such monitor is sold locally.
a. Purity (discoloration of white)
Solution: Use either internal Degaussing function or external Degausser to remove purity from monitor.
If problem persists, unit is considered to be an AS-IS or discount merchandise.
b. CRT Scratch
Solution: Make sure the scratch is not dirt on CRT. Depends on the size of the scratch:
If scratch exceed inch: AS-IS or discount merchandise
If scratch is less than inch: consult your supervisor for instruction.
c. Burn Screen (Image is burn on to monitor screen)
There is no solution for screen burn.
All Burn Screen units are AS-IS or discount merchandise, with no exception.
d. Spot Killer (a light flower appears on monitor during power off)
Solution: Some Spot killer can be removed by charging the CRT.
If problem persists, unit is considered to be an AS-IS or discount merchandise.
e. Focus Problem due to CRT
Solution: Make sure the focus problem is not adjustable (therefore, it is better to draw conclusion after the alignment procedure (see below); if problem can be solve by adjusting FBT, then it is not a CRT related focus problem.) Charging the CRT will solve most of the CRT-related focus problems.
f. CRT is too weak to perform alignment
Solution: Since the cause of such problem can be board, consult repair Technician for advise.
If the unit does not pass the CRT quality test describe above. The unit is considered to be an AS-IS or discount merchandise.
7.) Cosmetic Check:
a. UV damage of Bezel and Housing:
Cosmetic damage done by long exposure under UV causing discoloration on plastic. Classification of UV damage depends on (i) the degree of discoloration (how deep the color is); and (ii) the size and area of discoloration (centralization vs. spread out).
o AS-IS:
1.) Discoloration is on bezel and such discoloration is centralized in one area but not the other; or
2.) Color of Housing is different from bezel and such color differential is noticeable; or
o Refurbished:
1. Discoloration is light
2. Light discoloration spread out on monitor with no noticeable centralization of color differentiation.
b. Scratches and cracks:
Scratches:
o Major Scratch: Bezel and Housing with scratches longer than 1: AS-IS or discount merchandise
o Minor Scratch: Bezel and Housing with scratches less than 1: Refurbished merchandise
Cracks:
o All monitors with cracks either on Bezel or Housing are considered to be AS-IS or discount merchandise. (Exception: if the cracks is not noticeable while normal use, i.e. cracks on bottom of housing, consult your supervisor for classification.)
8.) Set Monitor Color Temperature to 9300k (if applicable) by using the OSD or Control button on the monitor.
White Balance Verify:
a. Use Color Analyzer to check High Light (High RGB) White Balance:

6. If monitor does not pass, Send back to Alignment Area..
7. Send QC Passed monitor to Packing Area.
8. Enter monitor condition to database" As-is" or "Refurbished"
8. Print out UPC Code Label and send monitor to Packing Aera
Classification Explanation:
Monitoronsale.com classify monitors into two main Categories: Refurbished and AS-IS. Monitors Classification depends on the functional and/or cosmetic quality of the monitors.
Refurbished monitor means that a monitor has been serviced and the specification match factory refurbished standard. Service of such monitors including repair, burn-in test, alignment, QC and Cleaning.
AS-IS monitor means that a monitor has some minor problem. However, these problems will not affect the normal operation of the monitor. . Service of such monitors including repair, burn-in test, alignment, QC and Cleaning. Unit with any of the following defects is considered to be an AS-IS unit.
Burn-Screen
Scratch on CRT
Anti-glare protective coat damage on CRT (if applicable)
Minor Purity problem
White Balance test fail
Cosmetic Damage: UV damage, Cracks
Spot Killer
