Computerized Alignment

Equipment to be use:

Quantum Signal Generator: Model 801GF, Stand A lone(Alignment)

Quantum Signal Generator: Model 801GF ISA ( QC)

Milnota CA-100 Color Analyzer Meter (Alignment)

Milnota TV-2130 Color Analyzer Meter ( Alignment)

Quantum CS-1 Color Analyzer Secor ( QC )

Manufacture Digital Alignment Kit.

Pre-Alignment Preparation:

1.)   Input mode: 1024x768 at 75hz

Input format: Full White

2.)   Warm up monitor for 30 min

3.)   Set monitors User Control to (OSD control):

Contrast to 100%

R Brightness to 50%

4.)   Check all OSD and/or control buttons to make sure all buttons function properly.

5.)   Adjust full white format to the center of the screen by using OSD control buttons. (See attached sheet for detail) Distance between bezel and picture = 1/8 inch on four sides

6.)   Check CRT Quality

a.    Purity (discoloration of white)

Solution: Use either internal Degaussing function or external Degassed to remove purity from monitor.

If problem persists, unit is considered to be an AS-IS or discount merchandise.

b.    CRT Scratch

Solution: Make sure the scratch is not dirt on CRT. Depends on the size of the scratch:

If scratch exceed inch: AS-IS or discount merchandise

If scratch is less than inch: Scrap.

c.     Burn Screen (Image is burn on to monitor screen)

There is no solution for screen burn.

All Burn Screen units are AS-IS or discount merchandise, with no exception.

d.    Spot Killer (a light flower appears on monitor during power off)

Solution: Some Spot killer can be removed by charging the CRT.

If problem persists, unit is considered to be an AS-IS or discount merchandise.

e.     Focus Problem due to CRT

Solution: Make sure the focus problem is not adjustable (therefore, it is better to draw conclusion after the alignment procedure (see below); if problem can be solve by adjusting FBT, then it is not a CRT related focus problem.) Charging the CRT will solve most of the CRT-related focus problems.

f.       CRT is too weak to perform alignment

Solution: Since the cause of such problem can be board, consult repair Technician for advise.

If the unit does not pass the CRT quality test describe above. The unit is considered to be either an AS-IS or Scrap.

7.)   Cosmetic Check:

a.     UV damage of Bezel and Housing:

Cosmetic damage done by long exposure under UV causing discoloration on plastic. Classification of UV damage depends on (I) the degree of discoloration (how deep the color is); and (ii) the size and area of discoloration (centralization vs. spread out).

       Focus Adjustment

1.)   Input Mode: 1024x768 at 75Hz

Input format: Grid Line

2.)   Adjust focus by one of the following method:

FBT Adjustment: Focus knob on FBT

Focus VR Adjustment: VR on Video PCB or main PCB

Electrical Adjustment: Use computer software to adjust

Depends on the design of a monitor, focus adjustment can varies, consult you supervisor if you have doubt about adjusting focus.

3.)   If monitor is 17 or smaller

Input Mode: 1024x768 at 75Hz

Input format: Text 12 and Text 16

To check clarity of image.

If monitor is over 19 or larger

Input Mode: 1280x768 at 75Hz

Input format: Text 12 and Text 16

To Check Clarity of image

4.)   Repeat step 2 if necessary.

Note: CRT may need regeneration if optimized adjustment is not achievable by the above procedure.

       White Balance Adjustment

Depends on the manufacture, adjustment method varies. The following procedure is only a general guideline for adjusting monitor.

1.     Input Mode: 1024x768 at 75Hz

Input format: Grey Bar

2.      Adjust G2 voltage until the second darkest bar is barely distinguishable from the last bar.

3.     Input Mode: 1024x768 at 75Hz

Input format: 50x50mm box (Small Window)

4.      Check and/or adjust High Light (Sub Contrast RGB) White Balance.

a.     Set Monitor to:

Contrast to 100%

R Brightness to 50%

b.     Use Color Analyzer to check white color:
